Details of visiting Preachers for 2021 – Covid permitted have been released
The Preacher at the Patronal Festival at Holy Trinity Tarleton on May 30th will be Fr Alan Rimmer , the son of Victoria and John Rimmer. Fr Alan is currently Curate at St Stephen’s, Gloucester Road in the Diocese of London.
The Patronal Festival at St Mary’s Rufford on August 15th will see Very Revd Geoffrey Marshall(former Dean of Brecon) return to the church as preacher, nearly 50 years after he married Hazel there.Hazel’s father was our PCC Treasurer once upon a time.
Fr Darren Smith SSC, The General Secretary of the Additional Curates Society will be our preacher at both churches on Sunday, September 26th. For over 170 years the Additional Curates Society has faithfully served the church and supports some of the poorest and populous parishes. They say of themselves ” Our strap line is ‘Passionate about Priesthood’ and as an organisation we are 100% committed to doing every thing we possibly can to both pray for and pay for priests.”
At Harvest Thanksgiving (October 10th) our Preacher will be Rt Revd Richard Fenwick, former Bishop of St Helena. The remote Diocese of St Helena in the South Atlantic is a place where one is very aware of the valuable role played by a large number of people in getting the food from the ground to the table.
The planned visit of Br Joseph Emmanuel SSF, Novice Guardian of the Society St.Francis and a Trustee of Confraternity of The Blessed Sacrament on March 8th had to be postponed because of lockdown. A new date is yet to arranged.
