Rufford Church is starting to improve habitat for wildlife in the two churchyards.

Caring for even the smallest of God’s creatures is important for the sustainability of this planet.

Children from Rufford CE School have made a good start by planting daffodil bulbs which, when they flower next Spring, will attract bees and other pollinating insects.

Other plans include a bug hotel (or two), hedgehog shelter, log piles, nest boxes, bird feeding stations and a patch of the unused new churchyard to be given over to wildflower pollinators. As well as benefitting wildlife we hope that this will be a learning opportunity for everyone involved.

We are partnering with National Trust Rufford Old Hall and the The Leeds & Liverpool Canal Society to make an even  Greener corner of Rufford.

This project will form part of our wider revisioning of how we can use the Church and its grounds.
