Post Covid collaboration with Rufford Old Hall and the development of the Asland Pilgrimage Way have highlighted the physical and mental health benefits of medium-distanced walks in unspoilt natural environments, “Walking in the Green”.
We propose the following:-
- Developing a fully accessible, energy-efficient Visitor Centre within the Church
- Improving insect/wildlife habitat with wildflower planting (“God’s Acre”) with support from the National Trust Staff at Rufford Old Hall
- Linking with the canal wildlife corridor and work undertaken by Leeds Liverpool Canal Society on the Rufford Canal Spur.
The West End of the Church is ideally situated for this ‘visitor facility’ and this appeal will give us the necessary funds to fulfil this dream and make the area accessible, secure and watertight. These works will include the necessary repairs to the structure of the Tower and Spire, which our Architect has discovered is in desperate need of attention.
The funding for Phase One of the works has been secured thanks to grants from The Church of England for the creation of a Disabled Loo, funding from Parish Reserves and the Number 1 Trust.
We are also grateful for the support received so far from Rufford Parish Council, The Village Society and the Freemasons.
If you’d like to support this appeal please do contact our Rector, Canon Mark Soady at rector@rsmtht.church
