At 9.15am All Age Eucharist Service at St Mary’s, Rufford  and at 10.45am Mass at Holy Trinity, Tarleton on Sunday, January 9th our Rector, Fr Mark will Bless the Plough.

Plough Sunday is a traditional English celebration of the beginning of the agricultural year that has seen some revival over recent years. Plough Sunday  involves bringing a ploughshare into church with prayers for the blessing of the land. The plough is processed down the aisle while “We Plough the fields and scatter” is sung.

Although the nature of farming has changed over the centuries, Plough Sunday is seen as a way of generally celebrating farming and the work of farmers which is so important in these parishes.
